This non technical course is designed for small business owners to gain a basic understanding of cloud computing concepts, history and future developments so that they are better able to make a strategic business decision on how to better utilize cloud computing technology now and in the future. It will have minimal IT jargon and gives the student some insight on usability of the different platforms currently available. At the end of the course, the student will be able to chose the correct platform for their existing data and industry requirements. They will be able to do basic configuration of the chosen platform using a simple checklist. The subject of Cloud Computing is diverse. The area that this course will focus on is Software as a Service (SaaS) since this is the easiest topic for beginners to understand and is also most productive. Other areas such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) will only get a mention. There are other courses that will be available for students who do want to learn more about these topic areas.
